About me

Hello, I am Sophia Di Gerlando and currently play for West Coast GA U19 primarily as the 11, under Josh Stringer. I also play for Elite Development Academy u19 primarily as the 9, under Micheal Orozco. I primarily play the 11, but I have much experience playing the 9, 7, and 10. On my varsity high school team, Mater Dei High School, I play as a starting 11. I’m a naturally left-footed attacker with a strong shot, but I’m confident finishing with both feet. I am a play maker, with most of my assists being from my strong crosses. I’m always looking for scoring opportunities while staying committed to making smart plays and sharing the ball. Other Soccer Highlights: * UPSL (Fall 2025 and 2026) – Currently playing for Club Atletico International * WPSL (Summer 2025 and Summer 2026) – Played as an attacking midfielder (10) for the Southern California Eagles 2025 season, currently playing 2026 season * Trained with the U17 Pumas in Mexico (2025) * Played with the U20 Guatemalan National Team in Nicaragua (2023 Concacaf), and was called up May 4-8, 2026 for training * ODP Winter Pool selection – 2023, 2024, 2025 * ODP Regional Events – Traveled with the 2007 team to Arizona (2024) and with the 2008 team (2025 Champions) * CIF Champion – Mater Dei High School (2024), defeated Troy High School in the final * CIF Regional Champions (2026)- Mater Dei High School, defeated Santa Margarita 2-0 * First CIF State Champions (2026)- Mater Dei High school, defeated Bishop O’Dowd 2-0 Outside of soccer, I’m equally committed to my academics. I currently hold a 4.2 GPA and consistently push myself to excel in the classroom. I’m interested in pursuing a major in Nursing, Education, Sports Management, or Engineering. In my free time, I enjoy reading, drawing, spending time with friends, and volunteering at Sacred Heart Kids' Club in Santa Ana, CA, a Catholic club where children come to nourish their faith and grow in friendship with Jesus. My goal is to continue playing soccer at the collegiate level while earning a strong education. I’m looking for a program that will challenge me both athletically and academically, and help me grow as a student-athlete and as a person. I hope this helped you see what kind of person I am.
